Behind the scenes
Photographer Angel Matute explains his work 90057 as a series that “documents the gentrification process that I am witnessing in my neighborhood. Fast modernization has a vast impact on low-income families and communities. Because the change has been so fast and drastic, it feels scary and inhumane“.
Photographer Angel Matute won the Isabel Anderson Award of Photography in the 2023 VAMS Scholarship.
His work was exhibited along with other winning artists in the V-Gallery at the Pasadena City College.
